Baked Chard Stems – A Savory Treat |

The Beet

The stems of Chard are often overlooked when cooking these delicious greens, but here is a recipe worth trying that features them as the main ingredient. The stems melt in your mouth making this a savory side dish. I recommend serving the greens on the plate, too, lightly sautéed with a bit of garlic, olive oil, salt & pepper.

Recipe

Ingredients
Chard stems from 2 bunches
Olive Oil
Parmesan cheese

Directions
Heat the oven to 400 degrees. Bring a pot of water to a boil and add stems. Boil for about 6 minutes. Remove stems from water and place in a baking dish. Drizzle olive oil and parmesan cheese over the top. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese has melted to your liking.
